Our History

How we started

The College of Business and Accountancy started its existence in 1962 with the founding of Angeles Institute of Technology. It was initially named College of Commerce with an enrollment of thirty-three (33) students. It was in July 1963 that the college was given government recognition (DECS No. 70, Series 1963) to offer the first and second year programs of the Bachelor of Science in Commerce. In 1966-67, the college graduated the first batch of five students.

The dynamism in the field of business expanded the college curricular offering, and it was in 1969 that the Department of Education granted recognition for the conferment of the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Cert. No. GR. 150) major in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, and Management and Marketing.

The expanded curricular activity changed the name of the college to College of Commerce and School for Secretaries with the integration of the Secretarial program in 1980. It was further renamed to College of Business and Economics in 1984 with the Computer Center added in the following year. In 1989, it was named College of Business Administration with the separation of the School for Secretaries and the Computer Center, the objective of which is to give these respective programs autonomy in the attainment of their respective growth potentials.

In 1992, the college was given government recognition to offer a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Realizing the multi-disciplinary requirements of the industry, the college offered the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management in school year 2005-2006. From its humble beginning of 33 students, the College has grown into one of the largest colleges in the university.

Currently, the College of Business and Accountancy has PAASCU Level IV reaccredited status for its Business Administration Programs. The Accountancy, Hospitality Management, and Tourism Management programs are PAASCU Level III re-accredited.
