Our History
How we started
In 1979, the College of Arts and Sciences offered the Bachelor of Science in Criminology degree as one of its academic programs. It was in 1982 when the College of Criminology was established as a separate college with Prof. Jose B. Maniwang as founding dean. Under his leadership, the College of Criminology was granted recognition on June 18, 1984 by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports pursuant to DECS Order No. 23, s. 1984.
The College started with only seventy nine (79) students in 1979 and its enrolment gradually increased in the following years. It has produced a total of eight (8) topnotchers since 1990 and has graduated more than a thousand students who are now gainfully employed as law enforcement officers, laboratory technicians, signature verifiers, security officers, criminal investigators in various private and public offices in the Philippines and abroad.
Today, AUF's BS Criminology program is the only PAASCU Level 3 Reaccredited program in the country and the only Center of Excellence in Central Luzon. The AUF BS Criminology program is recognized in both regional and national levels such as Center for Human Rights Education in Region 3 and a top performing school in the February 2025 Criminologist Licensure Examination. The AUF Criminology passing rate exceeds the national average for multiple consecutive years. These awards and distinctions demonstrate the program's strong commitment to academic excellence, effective instructions, relevant and dynamic curriculum and premium laboratory equipment and facilities.
